So..are you sick of the baby talk yet? Let me just get this over with
TOMORROW IS THE BIG ULTRASOUND!! Just in case you forgot. YAY!!
Well, yesterday I felt some pretty good baby kicks for the first time. Before now I had just felt flutters and gentle movements. Yesterday, however, Tayah was laying on my tummy resting and I felt probably 4 or 5 kicks. I told Tayah that the baby was kicking her but I don't think she quite understood. The kids are fighting already!!
So, take your guesses, place your bets now, last chance...is it going to be a boy or girl!!
Well, my good friend, Lyda, who is due just a few days after me found out today that her and her husband are having a little girl. They have a 2 year old little girl, Ashley.
I'm detecting a pattern between friends who are all having babies this summer:
Alicia and Jason =Girl
Kyle and Laura= Girl
Lyda and Brian= Girl
Tara and Ben= ???
I'm so excited I can hardly stand it. I'll post ASAP with the big news.
Just want to say Happy Birthday to my aunt Laurie!! She would be 51 today. Her and my mom were always the same age for 8 days. We are thinking about and missing her much today.
Happy Easter everyone!

18 Weeks
So, I am trying to take photos about every 2 weeks to track this growing baby. I wish I had done a better job doing that with Tayah because it would have been kinda nice to compare now, but I had only taken a few with her. So, here I am 18 weeks (and 1 day..but who is counting). This is the first week where I have felt a little large and really pregnant. People that I see everyday are even commenting that I really have seemed to "pop" this week. I have to agree. Ben also made a comment the other day that he thinks I may have doubled in size this week. It sounds harsh but I knew what he was talking about. No offense taken. Ben is still sorta weirded out about my growing belly and sorta thinks I am something of a Dr. Seuss character. He sorta feels like the whole growing a baby inside you seems a little Sci-fi. He doesn't understand why humans can't just lay eggs. I have to sorta agree though, not with the laying of eggs part, but it is weird but also really cool all at the same time. I also am noticing that I am starting to feel the difference in the little extra weight that I am carrying. When I run up and down the stairs 120 times a day (that's no joke) that it is getting a little more difficult and is much more tiring to do now. Sleeping is also starting to get a little more difficult, the struggle to try to find a comfortable sleeping position begins. A little less than 2 weeks and we find out boy or girl!!! I so can't wait and I think I am going to be shocked if it is a boy and shocked if it is a girl, even though I know it has to be one or the other. I have no real strong inclination with this one which is throwing me off.
Side Note: Our friends Kyle and Laura, who is due 9 days before me, found out today that they are having another little girl. Yay!! They have Ella who is 9 months old.

New Ultrasound Date Set for April 1st
Just wanted to let you all know that I have a new ultrasound date for April 1st. At my last appointment I had some blood work done (this was optional) for the Quad Screening. Which is just a screening giving you the probability of your baby being born with certain genetic birth defects (spina bifida, down syndrome and other neural tube defect effecting the brain and spinal cord.) I did this test with Tayah too and everything came back fine. This time everything came back almost fine. Two of my tests came back with a 1 in 5000 chance (Down syndrome and Spina bifida) but the other test came back with a 1 in 93 chance (other neural tube defects). So, my doctor has set up an appointment for me to have a level 2 ultrasound done in Maple Grove to get a better look at the baby's brain and spinal cord. It's a 3 hour appointment so I know they really go through and really look at several different areas that may possibly raise concern. My doctor said not to worry and that everything is probably fine. She said any score that comes back under 1 in 100 gets flagged and they take a closer look at. So, I was just below that number. I'm sure everything is fine and I know this test will sometimes give you some false positives in the screenings. I'll keep you posted.
Best news is that we will know if we are having a boy or girl VERY, VERY, SOON!!

Almost 16 weeks Already!!
Well, I am fastly approaching the half-way mark in this pregnancy and I can hardly believe it. At this point I am feeling like there is still so much I need to do to get ready for this baby that I almost feel like I need a little more time....(ask me that in month 8 1/2 cause this could surely change.) Although I feel like I can't really get started until I know if this baby is a boy or a girl. If it is a girl my job will be easy. DONE. If it is a boy...well, time to start shopping. The good news is that I won't have to wait too much longer to find out. I had my 16 week appointment last night and the big ultrasound is set for APRIL 5TH!!!!!!! Heartbeat was in the 160's this time...165, I believe. It was 170 last time, for those that believe the whole fast heart rate theory = Girl, slow heart rate = Boy. Well, going by that it looks like girl, but I don't know if I buy that. Although this did hold true for Tayah. I am so not sure on what this baby is so I am very anxious to find out. With Tayah I just knew she was a girl. Unfortunately I am not having much of a motherly instinct with this little one. I know Ben would love a boy though. But he is so good with little girls that I don't think he could really be disappointed if it is another girl. We are having a hard time coming up with names that we like so we will really have to think about that more once we know gender. We have a potential boy name at this point but no girl name. And NO!! We aren't telling!!! So, baby seems to be healthy and check back in about a month for the big reveal. Yay!!
